It’s often a very long time from the inception of an idea to the execution of that idea. As any creative knows, the ideas are always continually OVERflowing, sometimes at breakneck speed, but the time to make them happen is hardly so generous. This is just a simple announcement, introducing Jolene, a simple crossbody. I’ve been dreaming about this style for about 5 years. Not kidding. The to-do pile collects dust as the business end of running a small business takes over and the whole reason we began the business in the first place barely gets a minute on our list of priorities. So I’m simply here to say that Jolene was a long time in coming, but I believe she’ll be a staple. Because I only use repurposed materials, the styles I create are inspired by the remnants and samples that I get, and usually dictated by their size. The palette of cut velvets is from a French textile company that originated as a tapestry-weaving mill in 1880 and has evolved into the interior design world’s most prestigious source for exclusive finery. Be sure to look for their patterns the next time you’re at the Palace of Versaille…they’re there! These samples were just the right size for a simple crossbody, and I was able to match each one perfectly from my library of leathers. Elegant because of the refined cut velvet, boho because of the leather fringe, and just plain pretty in a monochromatic color scheme, these light pastel colors are perfect for Spring, which has officially sprung. And certainly, Jolene is not the only one who’s been dying to come out of hibernation after a very long rumination period!!!! But the end is in sight, my friends. I hope you enjoy it. Have you had your vaccination yet?!?!
