I was so lucky to be a part of the Soroptimist International annual Diamonds and Divas luncheon this past weekend. They put on a huge fashion event every year, and host a beautiful luncheon in which they fundraise for their mission, which is “To transform the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities.” There were nine honorees of the ‘Live Your Dreams’ reward, and it was impossible not to lose it when these women told their stories of growing up in the foster care system, being trafficked, and other traumatic experiences of their upbringings. Many of them now have children of their own and think mostly of their kids in wanting to improve their situations. I am so excited to learn more about this organization and to volunteer my time and efforts to them. For more information please go to www.Soroptimistinternational.org. This is a volunteer run organization since 1921 that achieves sooo much on donations alone. It was incredible to witness a bidding auction that raised over $22,000 among its 200 plus guests, all during the lunch hour!!! Thank you Soroptimist International!
