As an eco-conscious Fashionista, I love to scavenger hunt on weekends, and surprisingly good finds at Goodwill are (literally) worth their weight in gold. When I recently found myself at a large Goodwill in Escondido, I was not in any mood for DIY. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a good DIY project, but I can get my fill pretty quickly and need to take long breaks from this sort of time-consumption. But the second I walked by this table in a sad, lonely, furniture section of the store, surrounded by formica and 80’s old-world furniture purgatory, it started screaming at me. “Help!!! Save me, save me!!!” I tried to ignore the screams but ultimately I just couldn’t. Whatever drastic mistake had been made on this poor sucker just wasn’t doing it justice. I immediately saw its potential, with its inlaid gold trim underneath the glass, the ball and claw feet and indented wood trim; it was sooo obvious what needed to happen. So for 50 bucks, I brought it home, and vowed to give it the life it deserved. All it took was a little sanding, 2 coats of Rustoleum Chalkboard paint, and some Liquid Leaf in Classic Gold (from Michael’s) on the trim and feet. And though I didn’t really need a new coffee table before….I definitely don’t need one now!
